Argentina-based agricultural B2B portal E-campo.com (www.e-campo.com) will implement within 60 to 90 days an ecommerce platform as part of the second stage of its expansion plans, E-campo director Alfredo McClymont told BNamericas.com.

The platform will be based on VeriSign's Secure Site certification, using the Secure Socket Layer protocol for data encryption. "We want to be an ecommerce model, rather than a list of products," McClymont said. The company recently formed an alliance with US-based portal Agriculture.com (www.agriculture.com), and will launch a global agricultural information channel this week.

E-campo is currently negotiating a round of financing for an undisclosed amount, and will start conversations with a group of venture capitalists regarding funding of its planned expansion into Mexico and Brazil.
